Who is your favourite dubstep artist?
See results without votingDubstep is a beautiful expression of art, a form of music free from restraints and perceptions of stylistic music. There are those that say "its just noise", which is an extremely uneducated view of this diverse genre of music. Within this genre of music there are many many artists, each providing their own take on the sound of dubstep, from remixes of popular songs, to original pieces. Within this article I am going to express my ten favourite dubstep songs, in no particular order. The songs expressed are simple my honest opinion, you may or may not agree with it.
1: Skrillex-Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites
Probably my favourite dubstep song, by my favourite dubstep artist. His music is not purely dubstep based; house and electro can be heard throughout his songs. Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites is no exception. With a variation of styles, the highlight of this song would have to be the vocal drop of "Oh My God!" before launching into a barrage of wobbling, growling dubstep basses and uplifting house synth-lines.
2: Nero-Innocence
Emotion driven dubstep, with a melancholic, beautiful intro, leading up to a magnificent drop, sucking you into the dirty wobble bass. The song repeats the phrase "You'll never be mine". While I usually prefer dubstep without the cheesy female vocals, for some reason the vocals don't seem cheesy in this song and only add to the experience of this song, which is both trippy and emotion-filled. This is for all those critics who consider dubstep to be "just noise".
3: Excision and Datsik-Swagga
This song is awesome with a sub-woofer. The sub-bass is just as good as the deep, fulfilling wobble bass, if not better. It is a simple dubstep song, concentrating on the most important aspect of dubstep, the wobble. However, it does not sound empty, it actually sounds nicely deep, fulfilling and diverse. Great chill out dubstep that will amaze at the same time. The wobble is as diverse as it gets.
4: Rihanna-Rude Boy (Chrispy Remix)
I am not a fan of the original at all. Just my opinion, I don't like Rihanna. However, this remix is pretty decent to say the least. It ascends nicely throughout the song, with an original wobble bassline that has a strange yet entertaining bird-chirping noise at various intersections of the wobble. Rihanna's vocals nicely complement the dirty dubstep. A great remix of a not so great song.
5: La Roux-In For The Kill (Skrillex Remix)
Skrillex strikes again, this time with a remix. The original isn't bad, but this remix completely blows it away. Yes, this song has been remixed to death, but in my opinion this one beats them all. With an amazing sense of apprehension and ascension throughout the song, the drop hits you like a freight train. One of the best dubstep remixes in my opinion, it truly does not get any better than this.
6: Dizzee Rascal-Bonkers (Doorly Remix)
A great remix, that sounds fresh and uplifting. I don't particularly like the original, surprise surprise. However this remix adds a freshness and sharpness to the song, with a long, chilled-out intro, which leads to a quick, sharp wobble bass, with clever variations in tempo. The vocals of Dizzee Rascal are used to improve the song overall, they are not a burden to Doorly; he incorporates them with extreme skill, using them to influence the song overall, particularly the drop. Overall, a great remix and a great dubstep song.
7: Rusko-Jahova
A really innovative song. The dubstep here is original and really stretches the boundaries of what is perceived as traditional dubstep, similar to the music of Skrillex. However, Rusko and Skrillex are completely different, showing the diversity within the genre. This song in particular shows what can be done with a little imagination. It is a nicely laid back, chill-out song, with a sort of a reggae feel to it. This song shows what can be achieved within this genre, and so is an amazing song.
8: Skrillex-Kill Everybody (Bare Noize Remix)
This time we have a remix of a Skrillex song. Bare Noize do a great job of making an amazing song even more amazing. With the creepy line "I want to kill everybody in the world" leading up to the extremely varied main bulk of the song, this song is nothing short of a dubstep masterpiece. There are those who argue that this is not dubstep, but if you want to get caught up in the technicalities of particular genres, whatever., this is an awesome song, which is influenced predominantly by dubstep, with influences from other genres. A great song, listen and enjoy.
9: Datsik- Nuke'Em
A nice, dirty dubstep song; in its simplest form. This song takes everything there is about dubstep, strips it down, and delivers a nice, dirty, relaxing song, that is as trippy as it gets. The wobble bass is extremely filthy sounding, with nice changes in tempo, and a few nice sounds thrown in every now and again. This really is a true dubstep song. Sometimes less really is more.
10: Nero-Me and You
Ok, so this one isn't quite dubstep, but I had to include it, it is an awesome song. It's more drum and bass, with a dubstep influence. It has a general air of epicness surrounding it. It contains some nice little wobbles in it, leaving no doubt that there is some dubstep within it. It truly is a great song and so I felt I just had to have it in the list. Just listen and enjoy!
And So...
There you have it, the ten dubstep songs I feel are the best around. I hope you enjoy this list, and perhaps there may be a couple of songs that are new to you...or perhaps a new genre! Dubstep truly is an art form, it is free from the constraints of the world we live in, an escape from reality. In my opinion, the ten songs I have mentioned are truly amazing.

Awesome list bro. I tottaly agree with your song picks.Only thing is you kinda lacking other artists. Just too much skrillex =\. But otherwise great list
You are listening to way to much mainstream stuff. The underground stuff is whats really filthy, your list kinda sucks. Even some Flux Pavillion would have been nice if you are into mainstream. Good try though.
dodge and fuski

''Hey sups bro, you heard this dubstep, skrillex?'' Top 10 Best Dubstep Songs.. Bullshit. Dubstep is getting overly destroyed by a increasingly high number of new fans that hardly know anything about it music wise and culture wise. They just follow this path of ''coolness'' aka Scapegoats. Look up Coki, Artwork, Bar 9, N-type, The others..etc, These people hardly get credited and they we're the pioneers of making dubstep.
I totally dig TheBiocide. His tunes 'Smolder' and 'Castellum' are really heavy, just the way I like it. When I want lighter stuff I prefer Ronald Jenkees ('Throwing Fire' and 'Guitar Sounds' are really nice).
I appreciate the list. Both of the Nero tunes are spectacular, and I'll be listening to both of them for quite a while. I like the Datsik songs you listed, but I also stumbled upon 'Double Trouble' while looking them up and I really fell crazy in love with that track.

Nice hub - have you heard any Kito? I covered one of her tracks in My Weekly Music feast a few weeks back.
